ROCHESTER, Minn. - The Martin Luther College softball team finished its opening weekend tournament at the Rochester Dome with a pair of losses on Sunday. MLC lost game one 8-1 against UW-Stevens Point, and then lost game two 14-1 in five innings against UW-La Crosse.

MLC starting pitcher
Kathryn Marquardt kept UWSP from the big inning for most of the game, but was unable to keep the Pointers off the scoreboard as they scored once in the first inning, and twice more in the third inning.Â
The Pointers took control of the game in the later innings, scoring two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to build an eight-run lead.
MLC was able to push the game into the seventh inning thanks to an RBI groundout by
Cassandra Doering, but that would be the only run the Knights could push across the plate.
Marquardt fell to 0-2 on the season after allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 16 hits in 7.0 innings. She struck out two batters while walking one.
Audrey Timm and Lilian Herber each hit doubles at the plate for MLC.
UWLC 14, MLC 1 (5 innings)UW-La Cross jumped to an early lead and didn't look back as the Knights lost game two 14-1 in five innings.
The Eagles jumped on top early with five runs in the first inning, and added four runs in the third and fourth innings to put the game away.

Kelli Doell fell to 0-1 on the season after allowing ten runs (five earned) on nine hits in 3.0 innings of work.
Kayla Rosenbaum came in relief and pitched the final inning for the Knights.
Megan Lemke, Olivia Knudson, Marquardt and Rosenbaum each finished with one hit for MLC.
Janelle Radue drove home the only MLC run.
The Knights fell to 0-4 on the season in defeat. They will return to action on Friday, March 4, when they take on Millikin at the Rochester Dome. First pitch of that game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
