NEW ULM, Minn. - Martin Luther College senior middle hitter
Rylee Weisensel was named UMAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Weisensel earned the honor after averaging 1.19 blocks per set in matches against St. Olaf, Northwestern, UW-Superior and St. Scholastica last week, and set a new season high with eight blocks in the Knights' five-set win over UWS on September 27.
Following her strong week against three UMACÂ opponents, Weisensel now leads the conference with an average of 1.03 blocks per set during UMACÂ contests. She also leads the Knights in service aces (0.39) and attack efficiency (.258) during conference play.
Weisensel continues to move up the all-time leaderboard at MLC in blocks. She now ranks fourth in program history with 236 career assisted blocks and seventh in total blocks for her career.
Weisensel and the Knights will return to action on Tuesday, October 3, when they travel to North Central. That match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
