NEW ULM, Minn. - Senior guard
Grace Schultz became the third Martin Luther College women's basketball player to score at least 1,000 career points in Monday's game against UW-Stout.
Schultz entered the game in need of three points and reached the milestone on a fast break lay-up with 34 seconds to play in the first quarter. She finished the game with a season-high 24 points to go with 11 rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks.
Schultz joins Erica Babinec (1644 points) and Emma Babinec (1551) as the only players to reach the milestone in program history. Erica Babinec played for the Knights from 2008-12, while Emma Babinec played from 2002-06.
Schultz has also put her name in the MLC record books in other statistical categories. She currently ranks third in program history in career field goals (372), fourth in steals (197), and sixth in rebounds (520).Â
The Knights will open UMAC play with a game at North Central on Wednesday, December 6. That game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
