NORTHFIELD, Minn. - First-year thrower
Melissa Neumann led a strong performance by the Martin Luther College women's track and field team at the Carleton Relays on Saturday.Â
Neumann finished first in the Shot Put with a throw of 10.8 meters, and then added a second place finish in the Discus thanks to a throw of 34.77 meters. She also took home a tenth place finish in the Hammer Throw.
Neumann was joined by several other strong performances by MLC throwers.
Cassandra Anklam,
Katelyn Raddatz and
Emily Orvis finished third, fifth and sixth, respectively, in the Shot Put. Raddatz also added a fourth place finish in the Discus, while
Charlotte Huebner (fifth) and
Rylee Weisensel (ninth) each finished in the top 10 in the Javelin Throw.
In the jumping events,
Jade St. Germaine and
Emily Muir finished sixth and ninth, respectively, in the Long Jump.
Moriah Poehlman led the Knights in the running events with a sixth place finish in the 400 Meter Hurdles.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday, April 29, when they go to Gustavus Adolphus College for a meet scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
