DUNDAS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College softball team opened the season with a pair of defeats to Carleton College by the scores of 21-5 and 12-10 on Saturday at the Dundas Dome.
Carleton 21, MLC 5 (5 innings)
Carleton jumped in front with a 10-run first inning and never looked back on the way to winning game one 21-5 in five innings.
MLC starting pitcher

Trailing in the fifth inning, MLC was able to get the offense going with five runs as
Lisa Hoffer,
Kylie Wolf and

Carleton 12, MLC 10
MLC turned the tables and jumped out to a big lead early, but could not hold on as Carleton came from behind the win game two 12-10.
The Knights scored once in the first inning and then added four more in the top of the third to take a 5-0 lead, but Carleton responded with seven of their own in the bottom half of the third to take a 7-5 advantage.
Undeterred, MLC came back to take the lead with four runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth on a Hoffer home run, but Carleton tied the game at 10-10 with a three-run fifth inning, and then took the lead for good with a two-run sixth frame to secure the win.
The top half of the order did most of the damage for MLC, as
Emma Berg (two doubles), Hoffer (four hits, four RBI and one home run), Wolf (three hits) and Hoffman (two hits and three RBI) combined for 10 of the Knights' 15 hits.Â
Madison Uhlenbrauck (0-1) went the distance on the mound for MLC, allowing 12 runs on 17 hits.
MLC fell to 0-2 to start the season with the two defeats. Carleton moved to 2-0 with the sweep.
