JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Martin Luther College football team closed its season with a 46-12 loss at MacMurray College Saturday.
The Knights opened the scoring with a
T.J. Babinec two-yard touchdown run to cap a 14-play, 47-yard drive that ate more than seven minutes off the clock.
MacMurray would take over from there, accumulating 592 total yards (325 rushing, 267 yards passing) on the way to 46-unanswered points to put the game away.
Tim Keller was able to give the Knights a second score in the fourth quarter on a 17-yard run in the final minutes.
Babinec finished with an MLC-high 99 yards rushing on 25 carries. Keller added 52 yards on 14 carries, and also caught one pass for 15 yards.
Quarterback
Matt Olson completed nine of 14 passes for 97 yards, but was intercepted twice (one going back for a Highlander score).
Benjamin Balge led MLC receivers with three catches for 46 yards.
Defensively,
Paul Braun led the MLC effort with ten tackles, including one tackle for loss.
Jacob Brohn added eight tackles from his safety position.Â
MLC finished the season 2-8 overall and 1-8. MacMurray improved its record to 5-4 with the win.
