NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team finished regulation tied 1-1 against Bethany Lutheran before lightning and darkness ended the game before the teams could go to overtime.
The game will not be resumed, and ended in a 1-1 tie.
The Knights opened the scoring the 25th minute when
Hailey Johnson scored on a long shot off a free kick to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. The goal was Johnson's fifth of the season.
The Vikings tied the game 1-1 in the 38th minute, and he two teams went back and forth in the second half without either team able to push across a game-winning goal before the inclement weather arrived.
Johnson finished the game with an MLC-best five shots, while
Jenna Maurer,
Rachel Naumann,
Alyssa Maertz and
Danielle Hall each finished with two shots apiece.
Julia Barthels stopped six of the seven shots she faced in goal for MLC.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday, September 26, when they host Northwestern in a game scheduled to start at 4:15 p.m.
