NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team advanced to the semifinal round of the UMAC Postseason Touranment with a 3-2 win in double overtime against Crown College on Monday.
The Knights led 2-1 at the half thanks to goals from
Joseph Graumann and
Erich Osterman, but the Storm tied the game in the 56th minute, and the game remained 2-2 at the end of regulation.
After the first ten-minute overtime wasn't enough to determine a winner, Graumann scored the winner in the first minute of the second extra period to send the Knights into the semis. The goal was Graumann's team-leading eighth of the season, and came on a flick header off a great cross into the box from
Ethan Schultz.Â
Graumann led all players with eight total shots, with both of his shots on goal ending up in the back of the Storm net.Â
Osterman's goal was his first of the season, and came of a corner kick from
Jacob Shepherd in the 34th minute.
Josh Koelpin added an assist on Graumann's first tally.
Caleb King stopped three of the five Storm shots on goal.
MLC improved to 10-8-1 on the season with the win, and will play at conference-champion St. Scholastica on Wednesday, November 2, in the semifinal round. That game is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
