In accordance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

Martin Luther College does not discriminate on the basis of sex in its education programs or activities, including admissions and employment. Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, including sex-based harassment, sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and other conduct prohibited by law. Minnesota law further defines sexual discrimination as sexual violence, intimate partner violence, nonconsensual distribution of sexual images, sexual extortion, nonconsensual dissemination of a deepfake depicting intimate parts or sexual acts, and sex trafficking.

Consistent with Title IX and Minnesota law, Martin Luther College provides protections and reasonable modifications for students affected by pregnancy, childbirth, related medical conditions, and parenting status as required by law. Information regarding these protections is available from the Title IX Coordinator and in the College's Pregnancy and Parenting Student Policy.

As a religious institution, Martin Luther College is entitled to certain exemptions from Title IX when the application of a provision of Title IX would be inconsistent with the religious tenets of the institution. Martin Luther College reserves and exercises its rights under applicable law to maintain policies and practices consistent with its religious beliefs and mission.
