MORRIS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team lost its game at Minnesota Morris 65-52 on Saturday.
The Knights played a strong first half and trailed by only two points at 32-30 at the half, but UMM pulled away in the third period, outscoring MLC 22-12 to take a double digit lead into the final quarter on the way to the 13-point win.
Both defenses were tough to beat, but the Cougars were able to shoot 36.7 percent from the field, while also holding MLC to 27.9 percent on the other end. MLC also struggled from beyond the three-point arc, shooting 4-19 from distance.
Jade St. Germaine led MLC with 23 points to go with eight rebounds, while
Faith Schroeder joined her in double figures with 11 points.
Grace Schultz added nine points to go with a team-high ten rebounds.
MLC fell to 1-7 on the season and 1-2 in UMAC play in defeat, while UMM improved to 5-4 overall and 3-0 in league play.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, December 13, when they travel to St. Olaf for a non-conference game. That contest is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
