MINNEAPOLIS - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team suffered an upset loss at North Central by the score of 82-75 on Saturday.
The Rams entered the game with only one win in conference play, but shot the lights out to top the Knights. NCU shot 51.9 percent from the field, the highest percentage any team has shot against MLC this season. NCU also went 9-20 from beyond the three-point arc.Â
The 82 points were also the second-most allowed by the Knights in any game this season.
The two teams went back and forth throughout in a game that featured 14 lead changes and ten ties.Â
MLC led 37-36 at the half, but the Rams tied the score at 59-59 after the third period.
In the fourth quarter, the teams continued to trade baskets, but NCU was able to take control late, holding MLC without a field goal for the final 4:49, and finishing the game on an 8-0 run over the final three minutes.
MLC shot 45.3 percent from the field, and made eight of 21 attempts from beyond the three-point arc.Â
Erin Schmeling led MLC with 19 points on 8-10 shooting.

Jade St. Germaine joined her in double figures with 15, 11 and 11 points, respectively.Â
NCU was led by Lizzie Swanson, who scored 31 points and made five of her 11 attempts from downtown.Â
MLC fell to 11-12 on the season and 6-8 in UMAC play in defeat. NCU improved its record to 6-16 overall and 2-12 in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, February 19, when they travel to Minnesota Morris. That game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
