WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Martin Luther College baseball team lost the final game of its spring trip to Florida by the score of 12-2 against Loras College Tuesday morning.
The Knights scored both their runs in the first inning thanks to a
Jonathan Kock sacrifice fly, and a
Jared Lindemann RBI single.Â
Dillon Solomon started for MLC and pitched the first four innings, allowing two runs on four hits before giving the ball to
John Marquardt to start the fifth inning.
Loras took control of the game against Marquardt, scoring once in the fifth and four more times in the sixth to build a 7-2 lead heading into the seventh inning.
In that frame, the Duhawks tallied five more runs to end the game thanks to the ten-run rule.
Marquardt took the loss in relief for MLC, falling to 0-1 on the season after allowing five runs on four hits and one walk in 1.2 innings.
MLC finished the game with five hits, with
Erich Osterman,
Tom Keller,
James Hemmelman,
Jacob Schultz and Lindemann each finishing with one apiece.
The Knights fell to 2-7 on the season in defeat, and wrapped up their trip south with a 2-5 record over five days. Loras improved its record to 4-3 on the season with the win.
