LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team opened its season with an 8-0 loss at Viterbo on Thursday.
The V-Hawks took control from the opening whistle, scoring one minute into the game, and adding six more goals in the first half. VU added one final goal in the second half to close the scoring.
Jenna Maurer led MLC with a pair of shots, both of which were on goal.
In goal,
Julia Barthels stopped eight of the 15 shots she faced for MLC.
MLC fell to 0-1 on the season in defeat, while Vitbero improved its record to 2-2.
The Knights will return to action on Monday, September 5, when they host Saint Mary's in a game scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
