ST. PAUL - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team lost 2-1 in overtime at Northwestern on Saturday.
The Knights fell behind 1-0 in the 20th minute on a UNW goal from Anna Hitterdal, but kept the deficit at one heading into the half.
In the second half,
Jenna Maurer scored the equalizer in the 54th minute, sending the game into overtime.
In the fifth minute of extra time, the Eagles' Dana Lehtinen was able to score the game winner to give UNW the 2-1 win.
Maurer finished with a team-high three shots, all of which were on goal. She now has seven goals this season.
Hailey Johnson and
Martha Balge each finished with a pair of shots, while
Julia Barthels stopped six of the eight shots she faced in goal for the Knights.
MLC fell to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in UMAC play in defeat. UNW improved its record to 3-2 on the season and 2-1 in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action in a non-conference game against Bethel University on Monday, September 26. That game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
