NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team lost its non-conference match against Dordt College by the score of 6-0 on Thursday.
The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but was pushed back to Thursday due to rain.
The Knights had several chances early in the contest to get on the scoreboard, Â but the Defenders were able to keep them off the scoreboard, and then scored two goals of their own in the 31st and 33rd minutes, scoring twice in only 1:43 of game action.
MLC had another chance to cut the deficit in half early in the second half on a cross to
Jenna Maurer, but Maurer was unable to connect. The Defenders would once again build up the lead, adding goals in the 55th and 58th minutes to put the game away, and then scoring twice more to finish the scoring.
Hailey Johnson led MLC with three total shots and two shots on goal.
Alyssa Maertz finished with a pair of shots on goal, as well.
MLC fell to 0-3 on the season in defeat. Dordt improved its record to 2-2-1 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, September 9, when they travel to North Central for a game scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
