LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Martin Luther College men's basketball team was unable to slow down Viterbo in a 91-69 defeat Tuesday.
The V-Hawks came out firing in the first half, shooting 61.3 percent from the field, 50.0 percent (7-14) from beyond the three-point arc, and 92.3 percent (12-13) from the free throw line on the way to a 57-28 halftime lead.
The Knights found a rhythm on offense in the second half, scoring 41 points with the help of eight three-point field goals, but deficit from the first half was too great to overcome.
MLC finished with its best three-point shooting night of the season, setting new season highs in three-point field goals (13) and three-point percentage (54.3).
Nate Lindloff was the primary shooter on the night, making six of seven attempts from distance on the way to a team-best 18 points for the game.
T.J. Babinec scored 14 points, while
Josh Tomlin joined them in double figures with ten points.
Ian Paulsen led the team with ten rebounds and four assists to go with seven points.
The Knights fell to 1-15 on the season with the loss, while Viterbo improved its record to 13-8 with the win.
MLC will return to action on Saturday, January 21, when it travels to Bethany Lutheran College for a game scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
