Defense Leads Knights to 1-0 Overtime Win

NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team continues its stellar defensive play with a 1-0 overtime win over UW-Superior on Saturday.

The teams remained scoreless through regulation, but the MLC offense finally broke through the 93rd minute. Hailey Johnson put a shot on net that fell near the goal line, where a charging Morgan Hill was in position to put home the game's only goal.

The goal was Hill's sixth on the season, while Johnson was credited with an assist.

The MLC defense held the Yellowjackets to only eight shots total and two shots on goal in the contest. Erin Feddersen stopped both shots for her third shutout.

This marks the seventh shutout of the season for MLC, including six shutouts out of eight conference games so far this season. In UMAC play, the Knights have allowed only two goals, and have held opponents scoreless in regulation in seven of the eight games.

MLC improved to 7-4-2 on the season and 6-1-1 in UMAC play with the win. UWS fell to 3-10-1 overall and 2-5-1 in league play.

The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, October 17, when they host Minnesota Morris in a game scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
