MORRIS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team saw its season come to an end in a 1-0 loss in double overtime at Minnesota Morris in the quarterfinal round of the UMAC Postseason Tournament on Monday.
The Knights battled the Cougars to a scoreless draw through regulation and one extra period, but UMM was able to score the game-winner in the 106th minute off a goal kick turnover before the game could go to penalty kicks.
The Knights were outshot 9-1 to start the game, but came on as the game progressed and tied the Cougars with 19 shots apiece for the game. UMM was credited with seven shots on goal, six of which were stopped by MLC keeper
Caleb King.
Erich Osterman led MLC with four total shots, including two shots on goal.
Ethan Schultz added three shots for the Knights, who were credited with five shots on goal for the game.
MLC finished its season 6-12-1 following the loss. UMM improved to 10-9-1.
The Cougars will advance to play UMACÂ regular season champion St. Scholastica in the semi-final round on Wednesday.Â
