NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team saw its season come to an end with a 1-0 loss to Northland College in the quarterfinals of the UMAC Postseason Tournament on Monday.
The Knights controlled possession for much of the game and outshot the LumberJills 20-5, but were unable to put any of their 14 shots on goal past Northland keeper Megan Jordan.
MLC had a strong wind at its back to start the game and outshot the LumberJills 17-0, but had nothing to show for it on the scoreboard.
Heading into the wind in the second half, the Knights were still able to create several strong scoring chances, but Northland cashed in the game's only goal off a scramble in front of the net following a free kick in the 74th minute.
Hailey Johnson led MLC with six shots, three of which were on goal.
Lydia Bitter added five shots and three shots on goal.
Erin Feddersen started in goal for MLC and stopped two of the three Northland shots on net.Â
MLC finished the season with a record of 8-9-2 following the loss. Northland improved to 8-8-3 with the win.
