NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team closed the regular season with a 78-61 win over North Central on Saturday.
The Knights were led by seniors
Mariah Schoof and
Faith Schroeder, who were playing in their final home game for the Knights, as well as junior
Jade St. Germaine.Â
St. Germaine led all players with 29 points on 12-16 shooting, and also added 12 rebounds and four blocks in the win.
Faith Schroeder also had a big game, making six of her eight attempts from the field and scoring 17 points.Â
Schoof scored 16 points and dished out seven assists, and helped break the game open with a 13-point third quarter that pushed a five-point halftime lead to an 18-point lead heading intot he third quarter. She made five of her nine attempts from beyond the three-point arc.Â
MLC finished the game shooting 51.9 percent from the field and 8-14 overall from three-point range. They also held the Rams to 33.3 percent shooting on the other end.
The Knights improved to 10-15 overall and 8-8 in conference play with the win, while NCU fell to 6-18 on the season and 3-13 in UMAC play in defeat.
MLC will play in the UMAC Tournament play-in game on Monday at Bethany Lutheran College. That game between the numbers four and five finishers in the conference standings will tip off at 7:30 p.m.
