PLYMOUTH, Minn. - A pair of complete games by first-year pitchers led the Martin Luther College softball team to a doubleheader sweep over Maranatha Baptist University by the scores of 6-3 and 13-6 at the Plymouth Dome on Thursday.

First-year pitcher
Rebecca Pruss overcome a rocky first inning to lead the Knights to a 6-3 win in game one.
Pruss (1-1) allowed three runs on four hits in the top of the first inning, but allowed only two hits the rest of the way as she earned her first collegiate win. She finished with eight strikeouts, the most by an MLC pitcher since teammate
Kelli Doell recorded nine punchouts in a game during the 2014 season.
The Knights were held to only four hits in the game, but made the most of those hits with the help of seven walks and two MBU errors.
MLC scored twice on wild pitches, and took he lead in the bottom of the fourth inning on a
Jessica Friebe two-run double that scored
Aimee Ashman and
Amanda Schoch.Â
Olivia Knudsen led the Knights with two hits and a pair of runs batted in.
Audrey Timm scored two runs for MLC.
MLC 13, MBU 6
Morgan Palubicki earned her first career win as the Knights finished off the sweep with a 13-6 game two win over the Sabercats.
The MLC bats got going in the second game, as all nine starters recorded at least one hit and the team set a new season-high with 16 hits in the game.
The Knights broke the game open with six runs in the second inning, and scored at least one run in five of the seven frames.
Friebe led the MLC hitters with three hits, four runs scored, three stolen bases and one RBI. Timm added three hits (including two doubles), two runs scored and two runs batted in, while
Kayla Rosenbaum drove in three and finished with two hits.
Palubicki (1-1) went the distance, allowing six runs (all earned) on 15 hits with three strikeouts.
MLC improved to 2-4 on the season with the sweep. MBU fell to 1-2 with the two defeats.
The Knights will return to action at the Plymouth Dome tomorrow (Friday, March 17) with games against Finlandia, North Central and MBU. First pitch against Finlandia is scheduled for 8:50 a.m.
