DULUTH, Minn. - The Martin Luther College softball team lost both games of its doubleheader at St. Scholastica on Saturday by the scores of 9-0 and 8-0.
CSS 9, MLC 0 (5 innings)
St. Scholastica used a big third inning to win game one 9-0 in five innings.
The Saints held a 1-0 lead after two innings, but broke the game open with eight runs on seven hits (including two home runs) in the third inning.
MLC starting pitcher
Morgan Palubicki (3-7) allowed all nine runs on 11 hits in three innings of work.
Jessica Friebe (double) and
Audrey Timm (single) recorded the two hits for the Knights.
CSS 8, MLC 0 (5 innings)
The Saints completed the sweep with an 8-0 game two win in five innings.
The MLC bats were silenced for the second straight game, as
Kelli Doell's first inning single was the lone hit for the Knights in the game.
Rebecca Pruss (3-4) got the start on the mound and allowd two runs on four hits in one inning before Doell and Palubicki finished the game in relief.
MLC fell to 10-15 on the season and 4-6 in UMAC play following the two losses. CSS improved to 17-11 overall and 10-0 in UMAC play with the two wins.
The Knights will return to action on Monday, April 17, when they host Minnesota Morris in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
