NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team played defending conference champion Northland College to a 0-0 draw after two overtimes Saturday.
The Knights had chances throughout the game, outshooting the Lumberjills 26-15 overall and 16-4 in shots on goal, but were unable to come away with a goal to break the tie.
MLC outshot the Lumberjills 13-5 in the first half, and the teams went back and forth in the second half without a goal as they went to overtime.
In extra time, the Knights dominated play and outshot Northland 7-0 with four shots on goal, but Lumberjills' keeper Megan Jordan was up to the task and stopped each attempt.
The MLC defense continued its strong play from earlier in the week with its third consecutive clean sheet, and has now gone 343 minutes without allowing a goal. Keeper
Erin Feddersen stopped all four shots on net in the game for MLC.
Hailey Johnson led the team with eight total shots, including four on goal.
Martha Balge finished with five shots on goal, while
Lydia Bitter added four.
MLC moved to 2-1-2 on the season and 1-0-1 in UMAC play with the draw. Northland is now 1-3-1 overall and 0-0-1 in league play.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, September 19, when they host North Central in a game scheduled to kick off at 4:15 p.m.
