MORRIS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team split its UMAC triangular at University of Minnesota Morris on Tuesday. The Knights defeated Bethany Lutheran College 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-23) before losing to UMM 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-14).
MLC 3, BLC 0
The Knights opened the day with a convincing 3-0 win over the Vikings by the scores of 25-15, 25-20 and 25-23).
MLC was in control from start to finish, hitting .260 on the attack compared to .123 for BLC.
The Knights' hitting percentage got better as the match progressed as they hit .231 in the first game, .243 in the second, and then closed the match by hitting .293 in the third and final game.Â
Rylee Weisensel had a big game for the Knights with 10 kills and a .474 attack percentage to go with a team-best five blocks.
Jade St. Germaine led the team with 13 kills and hit .316 for the match.
Taylor Weber and
Kira Grev finished with 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
UMM 3, MLC 0
MLC was unable to slow down the host Cougars in a 3-0 defeat in the final match of the night.
UMM hit a blistering .325 for the match while the Knights struggled with a final attack percentage of .000.
St. Germaine led the team in kills with six. Weber finished with a team-best eight digs.
MLC moved to 8-6 on the season and 3-1 in UMAC play following the split. The Knights will return to action on Saturday, September 23, when they travel to Northland College for the third of four UMACÂ triangulars this month. The Knights will play the host Lumberjacks at 2 p.m., followed by a match against North Central at 4 p.m.
