TITUSVILLE, Fla. - The Martin Luther College softball team lost two games on the second day of its trip to Florida on Wednesday. The Knights lost the opener 7-2 against Shawnee State, and then dropped the nightcap 3-0 to Rochester College.
Shawnee State 7, MLC 2
The Knights opened the day with a 7-2 loss to Shawnee State.
MLC was held to four hits in the game, but hung around until the Bears scored four runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-0 lead.
The Knights rallied for two runs in the sixth inning, but that would be all the offense they could muster.
Audrey Timm drove in the first run with a double that scored
Brett Burger, and then scored the second tally on a double steal.
Morgan Palubicki (0-2) started the game on the mound for MLC and allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits in 4.1 innings.
Mykenna Schneiter finished the game in relief for the Knights.
Rochester 3, Martin Luther 0
MLC was unable to get the bats going into a 3-0 defeat in game two against Rochester College.
The Warriors took advantage of an MLC error in the first inning to score two runs, and then added the final insurance run in the sixth inning against MLC starting pitcher
Rebecca Pruss (0-2).
Pruss went the distance for the Knights, allowing only one earned run on seven hits in six innings.
The Knights were held to only three hits for the game, the first of which came on a double by Timm in the fourth inning.
MLC fell to 0-4 on the season following the two defeats. The Knights will return to action tomorrow (Thursday, March 8) when they take on Rochester College at 9 a.m. local time. MLC will also face Penn State-Hazleton at 2 p.m. local time tomorrow.
