ST. PETER, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team was unable to overcome an early deficit in a 4-0 loss at Gustavus Adolphus College on Wednesday.
The Gusties took control early with goals in the fifth and ninth minutes, respectively, and added a third goal in the 32nd minute to take a 3-0 edge into halftime.
The Knights battled to build momentum in the second half, but a Gusties' goal in the 59th minute ended the scoring on the way to the four-goal margin.
The Knights were credited with seven shots in the game, three of which came from
Joe Graumann.
Hugo Ugalde-Bemer added a pair of shots, while
Aaron Swanson and
Joel Koelpin each recorded with one shot apiece.
Gabriel Plocher stopped nine of the 13 shots he faced in goal for the Knights in the game.
MLC fell to 0-3 on the season in defeat. GAC improved to 2-0 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday, September 8, when they host Buena Vista in a game scheduled to start at 3:15 p.m.
