ASHLAND, Wis. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team was unable to hold on to a late lead in a 3-2 overtime loss at Northland College on Saturday.
The Knights jumped out to a 1-0 first half lead following a goal by
Joe Graumann in the 13th minute, and then pushed the lead to 2-0 thanks to a Josh Thiesfeldt goal in the 67th minute.
The LumberJacks cut the deficit in the half in the 75th minute, and then tied the game with just over two minutes to play to force overtime.
In the extra period, the Knights were unable to capitalize on an early penalty kick opportunity, and Northland made them pay with the game-winning goal in the 100th minute.
Graumann's goal was his team-leading ninth of the season, while Thiesfeldt's tally was his first. Both players recorded assists on the other's goals.

The Knights fell to 5-11-2 on the season and 3-4-0 in UMAC play in defeat. Northland improved to 3-11-1 overall and 2-5-1 in league play with the win.
MLC will close the regular season at home on Tuesday, October 29, when it hosts Crown College in a game scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
