MLC Women Fall 2-0 at CSS in UMAC Semifinal

DULUTH, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team saw its season come to an end in a 2-0 loss at St. Scholastica in the semifinal round of the UMAC Championships on Wednesday.

The Saints finished the season atop the UMAC standings with an unbeaten 8-0 conference record and proved too much for the Knights, who entered the day with three straight wins over the last week.

Morgan Friday opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 19th minute, and added another just 2:50 later in the 22nd minute off a corner kick to give the Saints a 2-0 lead.

That would be all CSS would need, as it held the Knights to one shot on goal for the game on the way to the win.

Erika Rosenbaum was credited with MLC's shot on goal. Keeper Mollie Fischer finished with six saves on eight CSS shots on goal.

The Knights finished the season 8-10-1 overall following the loss. CSS improved to 13-7-0 and advanced to Saturday's conference championship game with the win.
