NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's basketball team could not slow down the high-octane offensive attack from University of Northwestern-St. Paul in a 104-55 loss in Saturday's season finale.
The two teams battled back and forth to start the game, with MLC trailing 27-25 with 7:30 to play in the first half until the Eagles closed the half with a 25-7 run to take a 52-32 lead into the break.
The Eagles continued their run to open the second half, holding MLC without a field goal for more than nine minutes and building the lead well out of range for a comeback.
UNW finished the game shooting 55.8 percent from the field and made 15 of 32 attempts from beyond the three-point arc. The balanced Eagles featured 10 different players to make at least one three-pointer.
The Knights scuffled on offense, shooting 33.8 percent overall and 16.0 percent (4-25) from beyond the arc.Â

Jack Heichelbech led the way for MLC with nine points apiece.
MLC finished the regular season with a record of 7-18 overall and 4-12 in UMAC play following the defeat. UNW improved to 19-6 on the season and 15-1 in league play, and will continue its season as the top seed in next week's UMAC Postseason Tournament.Â
