NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team kept pace in the race for the fourth and final spot in the UMAC Men's Tennis Championships with a 9-0 win over Crown College in Wednesday's home finale.
The Knights took control from the start, winning all three doubles matches by the scores of 8-2, 8-2 and 8-1.
In singles play, the Knights took all six matches in straight sets to secure the sweep.
Seth Koelpin (6-0, 6-0) didn't lose a game in his number-six singles win.
Caleb Koelpin (6-1, 6-0) was dominant in number-five singles,while
Josh Koelpin (6-0, 6-2) and
Jonah Schulz (6-1, 6-1) only lost two total games in their wins in number-one and number-three singles.Â
With the win, MLC improved to 7-8 on the season and 3-3 in UMAC play. The Storm fell to 0-14 overall and 0-6 in league play in defeat.
That 3-3 record heading into Saturday's (April 27) match at Bethany Lutheran has the Knights in need of a win over the Vikings to secure the fourth and final spot in next week's UMAC Championships. The two teams are scheduled to start that match at 12 p.m., but bad weather in the forecast that day could push the match to a different date.Â
