ST. PAUL - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team was unable to get on track in a 9-0 loss at University of Northwestern-St. Paul on Friday.
The Knights fell behind early thanks to three doubles wins by the Eagles by the scores of 8-4, 8-1 and 8-0.
In singles,
Morgan Shevey was unable to hold off her opponent in a three-set loss in the number three match in a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-6) defeat.
In number-one singles,
Anna Hemmelman saw her UMAC winning streak snapped at 10 thanks to a straight sets loss by the scores of 7-6, 6-2.
MLC fell to 2-9 overall and 1-2 in UMAC play in defeat. UNW improved to 8-8 this season and 2-0 in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, April 9, when they travel to Minnesota Morris. The two teams will resume their suspended match from April 2 starting at 2 p.m., with the previously scheduled non-conference match set to follow immediately after the conclusion of that match.Â
