MORRIS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team split a pair of matches at Minnesota Morris on Tuesday. The Knights lost the UMAC contest previously started on April 2 (and suspended due to weather) by the score of 7-2, but rebounded to take and abbreviated non-conference match 5-0 that ended early due to darkness.
The Knights trailed 3-0 following three doubles defeats on April 2, and were unable to make up the distance in singles play on Tuesday. 
Anna Hemmelman (6-1, 7-5) and 
Tatum Bollmeier (6-2, 6-2) each won in straight sets, but the Cougars took the other four matches to secure the conference win.
In the non-conference match that followed, the Knights swept the hotly contested doubles play by the scores of 8-6, 8-7 (8-6) and 8-7 (8-2).
In singles, only Hemmelman (6-1, 6-3) and 
Morgan Shevey (3-6, 6-3, 1-0) finished their matches before it was called due to darkness with the Knights winning the overall contest 5-0.
MLC moved to 3-10 overall and 1-3 in UMAC play following the split. UMM moved to 4-3 on the season and 3-0 in league play.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday, April 13, when they travel to St. Scholastica for a match scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
