NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team was unable to slow down the offensive attack of Gustavus Adolphus College in a 9-0 loss on Thursday.
The Gusties entered the game ranked as one of the top teams in the nation and wasted no time showing their quality. Cole Schwartz put GAC on the board in the fourth minute, and the Gusties would add four more goals in the first half to take a 5-0 lead into halftime.
GAC continued to press forward in the second half, scoring four goals on the way to the 9-0 win.
The Gusties finished the match with 42 total shots, including 19 shots on goal. MLC keeper 
Josiah Mittelstadt stopped 10 of the 19 shots he faced in net.
Joe Graumann led MLC with four total shots, two of which were on goal.
MLC fell to 1-2-1 on the season in defeat, while GAC improved to 2-0 following the win.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, September 10, when they host North Central University in a non-conference game scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
