YANKTON, S.D. - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team lost 7-2 in non-conference play at Mount Marty on Tuesday.
The Knights fell behind early in doubles play, but salvaged a 2-1 deficit thanks to an 8-6 win by the number-three team of
Marcus Sims and
Josiah Mittelstadt.
In singles play,
Seth Koelpin scored the lone MLC win in number-four singles by the three-set score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Caleb Koelpin (5-7, 6-3, 6-2) and
Michael Friesenegger (3-6, 6-2, 6-2) each lost in three sets.
Jonah Schulz (6-2, 7-6) fell in straight sets following a second-set tiebreaker defeat.
MLC fell to 0-3 on the season following the loss. Mount Marty improved to 1-0 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on March 20 when they face North Central in the UMAC opener at Lifetime Fitness Center.
