NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team dominated the Storm from Crown College from start to finish of a 3-0 win in Saturday's home finale.
The Knights jumped on top in the game's opening minute with a goal by
Megan Marohn off a pass from
Rebecca Krug to put the Knights ahead 1-0.
MLC held that one-goal lead until the 54th minute, when
Nicole Porter scored off assists from Marohn and
Avery Broyles.
Kaelyn Holdcroft would add the final tally for MLC in the 89th minute to complete the scoring.
The goals by Marohn, Porter and Holdcroft were the first of the season for all three players.
MLC led nearly every category on the stat sheet, out-shooting the Storm 26-3 overall and 17-2 in shots on goal.
Marohn led the team with four total shots. Porter and
Morgan Spoehr each had three shots on goal.
Grace Sievert recorded her third shutout of the season in goal after stopping both Crown shots on target.
The Knights improved to 4-11-1 on the season and 3-8-1 in UMAC play with the win. Crown fell to 3-12-1 overall and 1-10-1 in league play in defeat.
MLC will return to action on Wednesday, October 27, when it travels to North Central for a game scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
