MORRIS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team lost a close 5-4 non-conference match at Minnesota Morris on Thursday.
MLC started strong in doubles, as the number-one team of
Jonah Schulz and
Benjamin Foss won 8-5, while the number-three team of
Josiah Koelpin and Elijah Schultz won 8-4 to give the Knights a 2-1 lead in the match overall.
The Cougars came back in singles action, however, taking four of the six matches to win the overall match 5-4. Koelpin won his number-five single match in straight sets (6-3, 6-1), while Schultz took his number-six match in three sets (6-0, 2-6, 1-0).Â
MLC fell to 1-3 on the season in defeat. UMM improved to 4-4 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, April 20, when they play at Northwestern-St. Paul in a match scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
