MORRIS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's tennis season came to an end with a 9-0 loss at Minnesota Morris in the opening round of the UMAC Tennis Championships on Friday.
The Knights entered the match as the tournament's six seed and faced the third-seeded Cougars, who set the tone early with a doubles sweep by the scores of 8-2, 8-3 and 8-3 to take a 3-0 lead in the match.
Singles would prove more of the same, as
McKenzey Crowley (2-6, 6-4, 1-0) and
Hannah Broring (3-6, 6-4, 1-0) each lost in three sets, while the Cougars took the other four matches in straight sets to secure the overall win and advance to the semi-final round next week.
MLC finished the season 1-8 following the loss, UMM improved to 9-3 with the win.Â
