Women Fall in Labor Day Match at SMU

WINONA, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team could not slow down the Cardinals from Saint Mary's University (SMU) in an 11-0 loss Monday night.

The Cardinals jumped on top in the fourth minute and were in charge throughout, scoring nine times in the first half and twice more in the second half on the way to the win.

SMU finished the game with 25 total shots, 20 of which were on goal.

MLC keeper Grace Sievert stopped nine of those 20 shots on goal, while Samantha Colvin led the Knights with one shot on goal.

MLC fell to 0-2 on the season in defeat. SMU improved to 3-0 with the win.

The Knights will return to action on Thursday, September 9, when they travel to Viterbo for another non-conference game. That game is now scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
