AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Martin Luther College baseball team could not get going in a pair of losses to Wentworth Institute of Technology(WIT) on Sunday by the scores of 15-0 and 17-0.
WIT 15, MLC 0
MLC could not overcome early miscues as WIT jumped on top early on the way to a 15-0 win in game one.
WIT scored three times in the first and added six more in the third inning, taking advantage of three MLC errors that led to six of the nine runs.
MLC starting pitcher
Sam Rodriguez (0-1) pitched into the fourth inning and allowed 13 runs (seven earned) in defeat.
Andrew Deisinger and
Caleb Heckendorf accounted for the two MLC hits in the game.
WIT 17, MLC 0
Game two found more of the same as WIT scored at least two runs in each of the first five innings on the way to the 17-0 win.
MLC starting pitcher
Reagan Moore (0-1) allowed nine runs on seven hits and six walks in 2.2 innings in defeat.
Mason Cox led the MLC hitters with two base hits, and also pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
MLC fell to 0-6 on the season following the two losses. WIT opened its season 2-0 with the sweep.
The Knights will return to action tomorrow (Monday, March 7) when they play King's College in a doubleheader scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m.
