Softball Falls Twice in Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Martin Luther College softball team lost both its games in Florida on Sunday, losing game one 21-4 against Kenyon before dropping game two 9-1 against Albion.

Kenyon 21, MLC 4

Kenyon jumped in front early and never looked back in a 21-4 win over the Knights on Sunday morning.

Kenyon batted around in each of the first three innings, capped by a 10-run third frame on the way to the win.

Madison Uhlenbrauck (0-3) pitched for the Knights and took the loss.

Lisa Hoffer led the MLC bats with two hits and three runs scored, including a solo home run in the fifth inning. Kylie Wolf added two hits, one run, and one RBI.

Albion 9, MLC 1

Albion used a pair of four-run innings to take down in the Knights in their second game of the day by the score of 9-1.

MLC jumped in front with a run in the first inning thanks to a sacrifice fly from Elena Hoffman, but that would be all the scoring they could do for the day.

Albion answered with four runs in the first off MLC starting pitcher Jessica Horn (0-3), and then added four more in the third and one in the fourth to complete the scoring.

MLC fell to 0-6 on the season following the two defeats.

The Knights return to action tomorrow (Monday, March 6) for their final day of games in Florida. MLC opens the day with a game against Drew at 9:00 a.m.
