MLC women followed up the men's first win of the season with an added boost of energy in the LSC and went on to defeat Maranatha Baptist
79-34. The Knights got off to a hot start in the first quarter and opened up the game with a 15-0 run. The Sabercats didn't get their first basket of the game until the 3:50 mark of the first quarter.
MLC ended the first half with 15 second chance points and 14 points off turnovers, forcing the Sabercats into 19 first half turnovers. The length and defensive activity gave MBU problems throughout the game. MLC ramped up their full-court trap to start the second half and forced 33 team turnovers which was a season high.
Lydia Feidt displayed her long arms in the open court and anticipated passing lanes. The freshman guard would finish the night with 17 points and six rebounds, and four steals.
Jordyn Heckendorf had an all around performance for MLC and had 7 points, five rebounds, five assists, and five steals.
As a team, MLC shot nearly 40 percent from the field and took advantage of plenty open looks from outside, shooting 11-of-34 on 3-point jumpers. The Knights were able to get many bench players some minutes and received quality play from them, outscoring Maranatha Baptist 28-2 in bench scoring. Overall, MLC got their largest margin of victory (45) in the win over the Sabercats and controlled the tempo on both ends of the court.
