New Ulm, MN - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team dropped its Parents' Day game to the Northland Lumberjacks by a final score of
2-0 on Saturday. The two teams previously met on September 16 when Northland defeated the Knights 6-0, with Harrison Tibbetts notching five of his team's goals.
On Saturday, the Knights were able to hold Tibbetts in check without a goal, but allowed one in the first period at the 34 minute from Victor Vancauteren. The Knights would have some chances to get an equalizer, but were unable to find the back of the net on their attempts.
The MLC defense would play another solid game despite the two goals and did so shorthanded without
Jed Mittelstadt and
Elijah Dorn, who was out for most of the game.
The Lumberjacks added onto their 1-0 lead with a goal early on in the second period at the 56th minute from Quinn Bieber.
Nathan Pausma led MLC with five shots taken, with three of them on target, while his brother,
Zachary Pausma, collected nine saves at the goalkeeper position
Up next for the Knights (3-10, 1-7) is an away game at Bethany on Wednesday, October 11. Kickoff is slated to for 7 p.m.
