New Ulm, MN - The Martin Luther College men's basketball team dropped its home contest with the Loras College Duhawks
115-53 on Saturday afternoon in the LSC.
The DuHawks set the tone from the opening tip and started the game with a 13-0 run to jump out ahead of the Knights with just a minute and a half gone by. Loras would never look back from that point on as their point guard, Ali Sabet, controlled the offense and effectively penetrated to the basket for a kick out three pointer to his teammates or for a strong finish near the rim. Sabet led Loras with 16 points and seven assists, while Myles Barry finished with a double-double (12 points, 12 rebounds). The DuHawks shot it well from deep, going 22-of-54 from three point territory for 40.7 percent.
The depth on the bench also served Loras in this one, as the DuHawks outscored MLC 65-15 in bench scoring. The DuHawks also had five players in double figures and often looked to push the ball off of defensive rebounds and scored 42 points off turnovers.
MLC would have difficulty getting much going on either end of the court, but still displayed a hard work ethic throughout the entirety of the game and was aggressive towards the basket.
Micah Kieselhorst finished with a team-high 10 points and seven rebounds.
Seth Veers had nine points and four rebounds and the junior was in attack mode all game long.
MLC (0-6) will look to bounce back with their conference opener next Friday, December 8, when the Knights host the Northwestern Eagles. The game is scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m. following the women's game.
