New Ulm, MN - On Monday, April 24, the MLC men's tennis team played their first home contest of the season against Minnesota-Morris. It would also be the final match of the regular season, as the Knights were able to come away with their fourth win of the 2023 season, beating the Cougars
7-2.
The Knights managed to take two out of three in doubles play and headed into singles play with great confidence.

Matthew Koelpin, and
Brian Friesenegger each won in straight sets, to give MLC a total of five points. MLC added on another two points when
Josiah Koelpin (6-7, 6-0, 10-6) and
Elijah Schulz (7-6, 3-6, 6-4) won their matches in three sets.
The Knights finished the 2023 season in fourth place with a (4-10, 4-5) record, surpassing the previous season record of 1-11. MLC will not be competing in the UMAC championships in Minneapolis, as the UMAC takes the top two teams in the South and North division.
The semifinals of the UMAC championship wil be played on Friday, April 28 and will feature: No. 1 (North) UW-Superior vs. No. 2 (South) Principia and No. 1 (South) Greenville vs. No. 2 (North) Northwestern. The winners will play on Saturday, April 29 in the championship.
