Morris Defeats MLC in Rough Field Conditions

New Ulm, MN - MLC baseball played their series opener against Minnesota-Morris under tough field conditions on Friday afternoon. The two teams had to play through it in order to get the game in and avoid any further cancelations or postponements. The game would go the distance, with Minnesota-Morris defeating MLC 7-1.

The Cougars put up one run to start things off, but Jackson Lindemann got out of a jam to limit any further damage. The Knights had an opportunity to even up or take the lead with two runners on base, but were unable to do so Sam Rodriguez struck out at the plate.

Morris tacked on three more runs in the next couple of innings after multiple stolen bases and doubles into the gap. The Cougars took a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the third inning, until Rodriguez produced MLC's first and only run from an RBI groundout.

From there the starting pitcher for Minnesota Morris, Josh Osten, threw five scoreless innings and figured out the MLC lineup. The 6'8" would allow just seven MLC hits, before being pulled after the eighth inning.

Minnesota-Morris did a nice job of capitalizing on getting runners aboard and had a total of 10 stolen bases to put runners in scoring position to manufacture runs.

Mason Cox and Lindemann had two hit games for the Knights. Lindemann also tossed six innings and gave up five runs on eight hits.

With the loss, MLC falls to 8-15 all-time against Minnesota-Morris, with their last win coming on April, 23, 2019 when they won an offensive slugfest 16-15. The Knights will look to have a similar result tomorrow, Saturday, when they finish the series with a doubleheader against the Cougars starting at 2 p.m.
