Roseville, MN - MLC baseball played a makeup game against North Central on Wednesday, May 3. The Rams had previously defeated the Knights twice this season, with the last game ending in a 14-10 win for North Central. Wednesday's game had more offensive fireworks at the plate for both teams as the Rams came out on top once again by the score of
22-12.
MLC got off to a 2-0 start at the top of the first inning when
Jackson Lindemann singled in a run, while
Caleb Heckendorf doubled home
Carter Seltz. The early lead wouldn't last long though, as North Central posted a nine-run bottom of the first that was ignited by a grand slam.
Despite the 9-2 deficit, MLC was able to work their way back into the game and even tied it all up at 9-9 after the top of the fourth inning. The Knights climbed themselves back into it by getting on base in multiple ways and took advantage of the situation by stealing bases to get into better scoring position.
The Rams answered right back and would score in each inning afterwards from the bottom fourth on. The extra base hits for the Rams continued to put the Knights in a hole, as North Central benefited from another homerun and a triple.
As a team, MLC would go on to outhit the Rams 20-19, but the Rams would utilize a deep lineup with all position players receiving a base hit.
Zach Klement and Seltz would lead the Knights with 5 hits apiece, which gave them each a career-high in hits. Heckendorf also had a solid game at the plate, going 2-5 with three runs batted in.
MLC (5-22, 1-17) now will go on to host the Northwestern Eagles on Friday, May 5, to start off their final homestand of the season. First pitch will take place at 3 p.m.
