New Ulm, MN - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team picked up their first win of the 2023 season defeating Buena Vista
2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights got started right out of the gate, scoring a goal at the 12:08 mark of the first period, when
Katie Shoeneck found the back of the net off an assist from
Hannah Schroeder. That goal got MLC going in the right direction and Schoeneck would once again score a goal at the 25:33 mark to make it 2-0 early on.
Goalkeeper,
Rebekah Schroeder, played her best game of her freshman season and her defense created issues for the Beavers to get quality shots towards the goal. As a result, the MLC defense held the Beavers scoreless throughout the rest of the first period, as well as the 45 minutes of the second period.Â
As a team, the Knights played their best overall game of the season and displayed solid communication between each other in order to get the first win.
MLC (1-3) will now play their second home game of the season on Wednesday, September 13, against Minnesota Morris. The game is scheduled to kick off at 4:30 p.m.
