UW-Superior Uses Big Second Period to Beat MLC

New Ulm, MN - The MLC men's soccer squad gave a nice effort on Parents' Day against UW-Superior, but the Yellowjackets put up five goals in the second half to pull away from the Knights 6-0.

MLC prevented UW-Superior from scoring in the first period, but the Yellowjackets still went up 1-0 at the break off of an MLC own goal. The Knights' defense helped Nicholas Russ out by booting the ball away from the box on multiple occasions in the first period.

However, the Yellowjackets would heat up in the second period and capitalized on many possessions, as Zach Tiemeyer found the back of the net twice to put UW-Superior up 3-0 around the 53rd minute. Felipe Oliviera scored the Yellowjackets' fourth goal shortly after and the contest would be officially wrapped up following that.

UW-Superior had a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks and had 25 shots on goal compared to three for the Knights.

Despite the loss, Russ had 20 saves and Abraham Schlomer, Johannes Bourman had a couple of chances to score a goal for MLC but came up just short.
