New Ulm, MN - The MLC women's soccer team put up a hard-fought effort in a
3-1 defeat to UW-Superior on Parents' Day. The Yellowjackets outshot the Knights 12-2 in shots on goal, but the MLC defense held a talented UW-Superior team in check offensively for most of the game.
The Knights were ahead early on in the first period after
Priscilla Boehm score her first collegiate goal in the 15th minute of action. Boehm found the back of the net off of a nice pass from
Rachel Schoeneck to put MLC up 1-0. The Knights almost went into halftime with the lead, but UW-Superior scored in the 40th minute due to a Taylor DeCook goal.
Mya Holmquist gave the Yellowjackets the 2-1 lead near the 55th minute and DeCook put up her second goal of the contest that gave a little more separation for her squad.
The MLC defense led by
Madeline Bourman and
Ella Ristow, gave
Maria Vik some good support in the back of the field, as Vik finished the game with nine saves.
MLC goes to 3-7-1, 1-4 on the season, and is another home matchup against North Central on Tuesday, October 8, at 2 p.m.
