New Ulm, MN - Mya Morris played in the LSC gymnasium last season, but did so as a member of the Crown Polars. On Friday evening, the sophomore transfer guard led MLC to a
75-54 victory over Buena Vista in her first home game with the Knights.
It was a complete 40-minute effort from MLC, who never trailed in the game. The Knights shot efficiently from the floor to give them a double-digit advantage for the majority of the game, shooting 26-of-56 (46.4 percent). Moreover, the Knights got it going from deep with a 52 percent clip on 13-of-25 shooting.
On the flip side, the MLC defense held the Beavers to just 33 percent shooting and locked down the perimeter as Buena Vista only knocked down four of 21 attempts (19 percent).
Buena Vista attempted a comeback after being down 40-24 at halftime and implemented a full court press to try and muck up the game, but the Knights wouldn't allow for them to get back into it even with the many different subs that the Beavers rotated into the game.
Morris had a near double-double (19 points, 9 rebounds) and collected three steals and five assists. The guard also displayed nice ball handling especially during the press.
Grace Kieselhorst added 15 points and
Lydia Feidt scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field.
Emma Dorn was the fourth MLC player to reach double figures with 10 points, while grabbing seven rebounds.
Up next for MLC (1-1) is another home contest against Maranatha Baptist on Saturday, November 16, at 2:45 p.m.
